For example, in the summer of 1998, APP offered donations of instant noodles with a total value of over RMB 10 million to flood stricken regions. In November, 1998, APP invested RMB 10 million to establish the Sinar Mas Forestry Science R&D Foundation, in collaboration with China Forestry Science Academy. In March, 1999, APP donated totally RMB 1.6 million to the Shanghai Charity Foundation. In April, 2003, APP donated funds and goods worth RMB 10 million to medical staff in Beijing, for the prevention and treatment of SARS. In April and July of 2003, APP donated totally RMB 2.85 million to the Hope Project. In February, 2004, APP donated 10 million to the Bureau of Health for the prevention and treatment of AIDS. In addition, APP has also donated capital for the setting up of schools in Fujian, Anhui, Guangxi and other provinces, and has sponsored primary schools for country workers children in Shanghai, as well as establishing scholarships in Beijing University and the Environmental Protection Foundation in Hainan province, and more besides.
As a member of the society, APP hopes its behavior will not only create economic value but social value as well. APP hopes to become an excellent corporate citizen. |
